Welcome to the Speak Clear English website.  This site is dedicated to the teaching of speaking and reading American English.

American English is really a simple language to speak.  It does not contain the complicated conjugations and noun genders that many of the other languages do.  Its greatest hurdle is the complicated spelling patterns caused by the influence of other languages.

Speak Clear English uses Universal English to simplify the language.  It reduces the complicated spelling patterns to 40 easily recognized symbols that duplicate the 40 sounds of American English.  This provides a phonetic spelling of American English much like that of the British International Phonetic Alphabet.  Yet, the Universal spelling closely simulates the Webster spelling of English allowing the learner to quickly transition to Webster’s spelling of English.
